À quoi ça sert ? Ça veut dire quoi ça ? Pourquoi c'est comme ça ?
What is the point of this? What does this mean? Why is it like that?
C'est ? C'est qui lui ? Un jour, une question.
Where is it? Who is he? One day, one question.
C'est quoi l'écriture inclusive ?
What is inclusive writing?
Cette écriture consiste à inclure systématiquement le féminin dans la langue française.
This writing consists in systematically including the feminine in the French language.
Par exemple, en écrivant Madame la Maire ou la professeure et en féminisant les noms de métiers.
For example, by writing "Madame la Maire" (for Mrs. the mayor) or "la professeure" (for a female teacher) and by feminizing the names of professions.
En utilisant le mot "humain" pour parler de l'ensemble d'une population.
By using the word "human" to refer to a whole population.
L'écriture inclusive supprime aussi la règle de grammaire : le masculin l'emporte sur le féminin.
Inclusive writing also removes the "masculine prevails over feminine" grammar rule.
On peut alors écrire les hommes et les femmes présentes, surtout s'il n'y a qu'un homme dans la pièce.
One can then write that men and women are "présentes" (with the mark of the feminine plural) especially if there is only one man in the room.
Et pour s'adresser à un groupe, on fait apparaître le masculin et le féminin dans le même mot grâce à un signe de ponctuation, le point milieu.
And to address a group, the masculine and feminine appear in the same word thanks to a punctuation mark, the middle dot.
Cette écriture a pour but de favoriser l'égalité entre les hommes et les femmes dans la langue française et donc dans la société.
This writing aims to promote equality between men and women in the French language and thus in society.
Certains pensent que si le féminin a autant d'importance que le masculin dans une phrase, les filles seront plus facilement considérées égales aux garçons.
Some believe that if the feminine is as important as the masculine in a sentence, girls will be more easily seen as equal to boys.
Cette écriture est parfois utilisée dans des entreprises, dans des mairies et dans des livres et des magazines.
This writing is sometimes used in businesses, in municipalities and in books and magazines.
Des enseignants ont choisi de ne plus faire apprendre la règle du "masculin l'emporte sur le féminin", car ils la jugent sexiste.
Some teachers have chosen to no longer teach the "masculine prevails over feminine" rule, because they consider it sexist.
Mais l'écriture inclusive est très critiquée car elle pourrait compliquer l'apprentissage de la lecture par exemple.
But inclusive writing is also very criticized because it could complicate the study of reading, for example.
L'Académie française, l'institution qui décide des règles de français, pense même qu'elle met notre langue en péril.
The French Academy, the institution that establishes French language rules, even thinks that it is endangering our language.
