Aujourd'hui, on va parler de l'automne, ses couleurs, ses saveurs, ses inconvénients et bien plus.
Today we're going to talk about fall, its colors, flavors, drawbacks, and more.

L'automne est ma deuxième saison préférée.
Autumn is my second favorite season.
La première est l'hiver.
The first is winter.
Mais je dois dire que l'automne, c'est une saison magnifique, pleine de couleurs et de saveurs.
But I must say that autumn is a magnificent season, full of colors and flavors.
L'automne dure de la fin du mois de septembre à la fin du mois de décembre.
Autumn lasts from the end of September to the end of December.
L'automne, ce sont les journées qui deviennent plus courtes, plus sombres et plus fraîches.
Autumn is about days getting shorter, darker, and cooler.
Les températures changent rapidement en septembre.
Temperatures change rapidly in September.
Quand je pense à l'automne, personnellement, je pense aux feuilles des arbres qui tombent, aux balades dans les bois avec un gros pull où on marche sur un tapis de feuilles mortes, au café bien chaud, aux soupes à la citrouille, à la pluie et à l'odeur du bois mouillé.
When I think of autumn, I personally think of falling leaves, walks in the woods with a big sweater on where you walk on a carpet of dead leaves, hot coffee, pumpkin soup, rain and the smell of wet wood.
Je sais que pour beaucoup, la cannelle est le symbole de l'automne, surtout dans le café et le chocolat chaud.
I know that for many, cinnamon is the symbol of autumn, especially in coffee and hot chocolate.
La cannelle ne me vient pas tout de suite à l'esprit car on utilise très peu cette épice en Europe.
Cinnamon doesn't immediately come to mind because this spice is rarely used in Europe.
Maintenant que j'habite en Amérique du Nord, j'en mange un peu plus mais c'est quand même très fort comme saveur, c'est intense.
Now that I live in North America, I eat a little more of it, but it's still very strong in flavor, it's intense.
Revenons à l'automne.

Les feuilles multicolores, oranges, jaunes et brunes, rendent les paysages et les forêts incroyables.

There is this orange light that you don't find in any other season.
Au niveau visuel, l'automne est la plus belle des saisons, je pense.
Visually, autumn is the most beautiful season, I think.
C'est aussi le moment de cuisiner des plats plus riches, plus lourds et de faire des pâtisseries comme la tarte à la citrouille.
It's also a time to cook richer, heavier dishes and bake things like pumpkin pie.

En Europe, on célèbre Halloween depuis récemment, quelques années.

On a d'autres fêtes comme la Saint-Nicolas pour certains et évidemment Noël.
We have other holidays like Saint Nicholas for some and obviously Christmas.
La rentrée des classes est aussi considérée comme quelque chose qui se passe en automne mais techniquement c'est en été.
Back to school is also considered something that happens in the fall, but technically it's in the summer.
Tout ça c'est pour les bons côtés de l'automne.
That's all for the good sides of autumn.
Le mauvais côté de cette saison c'est certainement la dépression saisonnière.
The downside of this season is definitely seasonal depression.
La dépression saisonnière c'est une sorte de dépression que certains subissent à cause du changement de lumière et de température.
Seasonal affective disorder is a type of depression that some people experience due to changes in light and temperature.
Comme je disais les journées sont plus courtes, il fait plus sombre et il fait plus froid.
As I said, the days are shorter, it's darker and it's colder.
Quelque chose qui aide beaucoup c'est une lampe de luminothérapie.
Something that helps a lot is a light therapy lamp.
C'est une lampe qui diffuse une lumière artificielle et aide avec les journées plus sombres.
It is a lamp that diffuses artificial light and helps with darker days.
Si vous souffrez de dépression saisonnière, prenez soin de vous et contactez un thérapeute si vous en avez besoin.
