Léon Marchand - Beaucoup, j'ai failli rater mon avion d'ailleurs ce matin.

Léon Marchand - Non mais c'est infini en fait, tous les jours, tous les jours, j'ai l'impression que les jeux c'est encore en ce moment, donc c'est assez ouf.

Léon Marchand - Alors des fois, ma maman m'envoyait deux, trois unes de journaux quand même.

Léon Marchand - So sometimes, my mother would send me two or three newspaper front pages anyway.

Léon Marchand - Oui, je les ai toutes.

Léon Marchand - On a une boîte à la maison. Ma mère garde tout.

Léon Marchand - Celle-là, il va falloir la récupérer, elle est pas mal. Je l'ai pas eue.

Yann Barthès - Alors quand vous sortiez la tête du bassin, il se passait ça. On écoute juste le son.

Léon Marchand - C'était exactement la même chose, en plus puissant.

Léon Marchand - Oui, on l'entendait bien. Même sous l'eau.

Léon Marchand - Oui, même sous l'eau. J'ai un souvenir de la dernière coulée au 200 papillon. Et vraiment, je sentais la piscine vibrer.

Léon Marchand - Yes, even underwater. I have a memory of the last swim in the 200 butterfly. And I really felt the pool vibrate.

C'était quelque chose d'assez unique, ouais.

Yann Barthès - Ça peut perturber ?

Yann Barthès - Could it be disturbing?

Léon Marchand - Oui, je pense qu'il y a deux options. Soit ça nous écrase, ce genre de pression.

Léon Marchand - Yes, I think there are two options. Either it crushes us, this kind of pressure.

Je sais que les athlètes dans le stade de France, par exemple, c'était assez écrasant.

I know that the athletes in the Stade de France, for example, it was quite overwhelming.

Beaucoup de bruit, beaucoup de pression, beaucoup de poids sur les épaules.

Lots of noise, lots of pressure, lots of weight on the shoulders.

Moi, j'avais un peu préparé ça mentalement, et du coup, ça m'a servi.

I had prepared it a bit mentally, and it helped me.

C'était une énergie hyper positive, et ça me permet de me dépasser dans ce que je fais.

It was a super positive energy, and it allows me to surpass myself in what I do.

Yann Barthès - Mais quand on est dans une piscine, on entend l'eau, on n'entend pas forcément ce qu'il y a dehors.

Yann Barthès - But when you're in a swimming pool, you hear the water, you don't necessarily hear what's outside.

Léon Marchand - Là, c'est la première fois qu'il y avait autant de bruit. Moi, je n'ai jamais vécu ça.

Léon Marchand - This is the first time there was so much noise. I have never experienced that.

En général, en natation, il y a peut-être 200, 300 personnes dans les gradins. Et là, il y en avait plus de 15000, donc c'était quelque chose.

Usually in swimming there are maybe 200, 300 people in the stands. And there were over 15,000, so it was something.

Yann Barthès - Alors, tout l'été, la foule chantait La Marseillaise en remplaçant "Marchons, marchons", par "Marchand, Marchand". Vous le saviez ?

Yann Barthès - So, all summer long, the crowd sang La Marseillaise, replacing "Marchons, marchons" with "Marchand, Marchand". Did you know that?

Yann Barthès - Est-ce que vous le saviez ?

Yann Barthès - Did you know that?

Léon Marchand - Je l'ai su le jour après les JO, quand j'ai fait la journée au Club France.

Léon Marchand - I found out the day after the Olympics, when I spent the day at Club France.

On a fait des célébrations sur la scène et tout. Et on a chanté l'hymne, et effectivement, il y avait un petit changement de lyrics.

We had celebrations on stage and everything. And we sang the anthem, and yes, there was a little change in lyrics.

Yann Barthès - Emmanuel Macron, il a l'air d'être très fan aussi. Il a l'air d'être très fan de vous.

Yann Barthès - Emmanuel Macron, he seems to be a big fan too. He seems to be a big fan of you.

On dirait que c'est lui qui a gagné, d'ailleurs. À ce moment-là, sous l'Arc de Triomphe, c'est plus lui que vous !

Qu'est-ce qu'il vous a dit ?

Léon Marchand - Pour la petite anecdote, au début, donc en fait j'ai rencontré peut-être 200, 300 personnes dans la journée.

Et donc, j'ai demandé, ça va, etc. Et j'arrive sur la scène et il me dit, comment ça va ?

Je dis : ça va et toi ? Je le tutoie ! Ça, c'était pas bon, déjà.

I say: how are you? I use the familiar form with him! That wasn't good enough.

Et après, non, après, il m'a félicité. Il m'a dit mille fois "bravo", "merci", etc. Donc, c'était cool.

Ambre Chalumeau - Là, vous avez le droit de lui dire "tu", hein, quatre médailles, vous dites "tu" à qui vous voulez, à peu près, je pense.

Yann Barthès - Est-ce que vous la portez de temps en temps, la petite Légion d'honneur ? Histoire de kiffer.

I leave them in their packaging. I try to keep them. I try to show them to people, though.

Mais je n'ai pas envie de les reporter. Je les ai portées à des moments uniques, que j'ai envie de garder dans ma mémoire.

But I don't want to wear them again. I wore them at unique moments, which I want to keep in my memory.

Yann Barthès - Elles vont rester à Toulouse ou elles vont aller en Arizona ?

Yann Barthès - Are they going to stay in Toulouse or are they going to Arizona?

Léon Marchand - C'est une bonne question. Je pense que ça va rester à Toulouse.

Léon Marchand - That's a good question. I think it will stay in Toulouse.

Parce que je suis né à Toulouse, j'ai ma famille, j'ai tout le monde là-bas. Donc, je pense que ça va rester à Toulouse.

Because I was born in Toulouse, I have my family, I have everyone there. So, I think it will stay in Toulouse.
